The Secret To Starting Your Day Off Right and It's Not What You Think!

What if you could start your day off right and hit the new day with a boost of energy and focus like never before? Well, here's how I do it.

Before I started Seema with Love, I didn't give much thought to routines. I had spent many years helping my husband in his pharmacy business. When we sold after 20 years, he asked me to have a break and not work. To be honest, I very much needed the break. But after spending a couple of years looking after the 'day to day stuff' at home, I started to feel bored and lacking purpose.

So one night I sat down with Chris and shared how I felt. He listened quietly. Then all of a sudden, he said something which caught me off guard.
"Start your own business and follow your dreams."

In some ways, it was a bit scary!

You see, it would be the first time I would step out from his shadow. I had the opportunity to create a business, I was personally passionate about.

And so Seema with Love was born.

But here's what I discovered.

Once I started my business, I discovered that my livelihood and energy levels were tied directly to how well I managed my day. I had to be more intentional about how I started and ended my day. After all, it's hard to be passionate and creative when you're tired and haven't had a good night's rest.

So I started looking for new ways to make my morning and night rituals count.

I wanted to hit the new day off with a boost of energy and focus. So I eventually figured out my optimum morning and evening ritual.

Let me share my morning ritual with you first.

I normally wake up early in the mornings, often while the rest of the family is still asleep. I'm a professionally trained beauty therapist and as a result, have always known how important it is to look after our skin. 

The first thing I do is apply some of the  Beautician and The Pharmacist Vitamin C Serum to my face. It's a great way to boost and 'wake up' my skin.

I then make a cup of coffee, sit down with my Bible and spend some quiet time with God. This is such an important part of the day for me. It allows me to get centred. I do some journaling and envision my day. Three times a week, I try to fit in about 20 minutes of light exercise.

As a result, I often kick off the mornings pretty well!

 

But it's the nights where the real game-changer happens when it comes to boosting my daily energy levels.

  • I like to choose my outfit the night before, ensuring it's ironed and ready to go.

  • As a rule, I try and get at least 8 hours of sleep a night. I often write in my journal and reflect on the happenings of the day.

  • I read my Bible before bed and spend about 15 minutes praying and meditating on the goodness of God and His Word. It helps me stay connected to my purpose.

But my days haven't always been perfect!

You see, I am a very 'hands-on' person, a 'doer' of things. 

But I often struggled at night!

I couldn't switch off easily at night.

I tried essential oils, calming teas, switching off all electronic devices, listening to soothing music and even placed salt lamps and room diffusers in the room. I even experimented with herbal supplements.

Yet, I would still lay wide awake, into the early hours of the morning. It was so frustrating! It certainly didn't help, whenever I looked over, and my dear husband was sound asleep!

After weeks of going through this, one night I was at breaking point!
Numerous sleepless nights had started affecting my moods. I'm sure my serotonin levels ( serotonin is the "feel-good happy chemical") were out of wack!

Frustrated, tired and overwhelmed, one night I woke up my husband. I pleaded with him to help me sleep. I didn't want a  sleeping tablet. I knew they could be addictive if I started to rely on them to get a good night's sleep.

Now, having a husband who is a Pharmacist and a Coach to CEOs and Entrepreneurs, should surely have some benefits right? 

So, I asked him to make me something natural and non-addictive.

 

Previously, I had minimal success with essential oils and herbal teas. I certainly didn't want my bedroom to smell weird, or struggle the next day with oil stains on the bedding.

Then came the game-changer.

You see, as a pharmacist and researcher, Chris had in the past formulated many products. After a few months of research, formulating and dabbing numerous topical natural remedies on me, he finally came up with a unique topical cream that had a calming effect and aroma that I absolutely loved!
